Retail Bank

A retail bank in Youghal, Co. Cork, Ireland required an upgrade to its existing external access infrastructure following the failure of the original escape ladders. Select Access was appointed to remove and dispose of the existing failed ladders and provide new, compliant access solutions to support safe movement around the building.

The project required both vertical and stair access, with the new systems designed to suit the existing building configuration and provide practical access to multiple levels via fire escape ladders and stairs.

Select Access supplied, installed, and certified a 7m-high aluminium caged access ladder incorporating two side exits and dedicated platforms at each window exit. An additional aluminium access stair system, measuring 3m high by 1m wide, was installed and anchored directly to the building walls.

The existing failed escape ladders were safely removed and disposed of as part of the works, allowing the new access infrastructure to be installed as a complete replacement solution.

The completed works replaced the failed escape infrastructure with new, certified access systems, providing secure vertical and stair access to the building. The combination of the caged ladder, side exits, platforms and wall-anchored access stairs provides a practical solution for ongoing access and emergency egress requirements.
